Uhhh ohhhh...it’s that time of year again, the
seasons are shifting and some of us are holding on to the fading
summer weather for dear life. Many of us can't accept the fact that the cooler weather
actually means…winter is on its way. Until the
sniffling slowly starts and coughing and sneezing soon follow.
So logically when you’re sick you don't order a burger
and fries (although I've made this mistake). You replenish your body with fluids like soup, tea and water! So now when I’m
sick, I head straight to Pho Hung.

Pho Hung is a Vietnamese restaurant located at 350 Spadina Avenue in the heart of Chinatown and Kensington market. They are famous for their pho (actually pronounced 'faa' FYI) soups. The first time I went to Pho Hung I was a bit skeptical due to the random happy cow face on the sign, but I put all judgements aside and I’ve never been disappointed.
The restaurant is always
full, but the wait for a table is never long and service is quick and efficient.
Here is my go-to item at Pho Hung:
08. PHỞ TÁI BÒ VIÊN
(Small) Beef Rice Noodle Soup (Rare and Beef Balls)
(Small) Beef Rice Noodle Soup (Rare and Beef Balls)
Every steaming bowl of soup comes with a plate of
bean sprouts, basil, chili and lime. Along with Sriracha (AKA the GOD
of all hot sauces...and key to making any food taste sexy), Hoisin sauce and fish sauce. Once you add a bit of everything to your soup you get the epitome of deliciousness.
Prices range from $6-$10 for pho
and sizes range from small to extra large. I recommend you
start off with a small. The 'large' should really be called 'huge' and the extra large bowl could easily fit a small child…no joke. I’ve never seen anyone
finish an extra large and they don’t allow you to pack up leftover soup, so…like I said, start off small!
Try out Pho Hung and let us know what you think! Feel free to leave any suggestions for where we should head to next in the comments!
Peace and grub ya'll!! ;)
