'Tis the season to be hungry

It's the most wonderful time of the year. The end of the semester, exams are done. While not truly a foodie joy, it is a joy for millions of students world-wide.

As stated by someone once.."With great power, comes great responsibility". And it is our responsibility to deliver you the foodie goods, each and every week. So this post is part apology, for neglect, because as an avid lover of food I hate when I go to long without food related activities, including, but not limited to:

  • Eating
  • Thinking about food
  • Blogging about food
  • Imagining food I will prepare when I get home
  • Creeping restaurant menus before I go to restaurants
  • Watching Food Network on an empty stomach as a form of mild self-discipline
  • Checking and re-checking the fridge to see if additional food appears (It usually doesn't)
Sadly, I can say I allowed school to interrupt my first love. But those dog days are over (you tell em Florence). So as pennance, I have compiled a bit of a visual scrapbook of my various food-esque tidbits thus far. While I may not have been blogging, I was always thinking about it (and all of you, dear readers). So thus I present to you, the first annual (weekly?) food scrapbook. In no particular order...

Egg Breakfast Tacos-For all of you who may have doubted my cooking ability. Here is one of my early morning creations complete with: feta cheese, eggs, tomato, green and red peppers and of course...hot sauce! Also no Old El Paso tortilla shells...these are the real deal corn tortillas!

Now I know hot sauce is a very personal matter for some people, but this is the stuff I grew up on! Jamaican style hot sauce is like ketchup for me at this point....I put it on everything, except maybe dessert. But now that I've said that, I'm tempted to try it.

Every so often, I feel the need to return to health food. So I took this opportunity to shout out one the most underrated greens- rapini. It's essentially spinach's bitter cousin, but don't let that discourage you from trying this amazing vegetable!

Now I can't stay away from bad food for too long, so here are some classic pork buns from where else but King's Noodle Restaurant in Chinatown. Fluffy, and full of sweet, porky goodness, there is no way I could say no!

So there you have it folks, the first ever Girls and Grub food scrapbook, you can look forward to more of these delicious tidbits because lets face it...we're always eating. Now that Christmas break has begun (for me at least) it will be prime eating time, and sharing is caring, so we will definitely keep you posted on everything food related.

Peace and seasonal grub y'all!
